Tapestry

What is Tapestry?

Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.

At Stanhope Primary School we use tapestry to observe the children in the seven areas of learning and the development of characteristics of effective learning. When we observe the children we record key moments in your child’s development. Below is what to expect in your child’s observation.

  1. We write a record of your child’s interest.
  2. We use language to show the teaching in the observation.
  3. We quote the children accurately using the exact language they have used.
  4. Each observation will be linked to the characteristics of effective learning, and to at least two areas of development.

Parent engagement

At Stanhope we ask for all parents to fully engage in their child learning by logging into their tapestry account. We are lucky to have an online learning journal which allows parents to read, like and comment about the learning your child has taken part in while at school/Nursery. Parents can also add photos and videos themselves and the staffing team can access these and add them to your child’s online learning journal. When adding your own photos, and videos we would appreciate it if you could title the observation.

At Stanhope 2022/2023 parental engagement was 100% . We aim to keep this up by encouraging parents to use their log-ins that are provided and log on each week to read observations that have been published. Feel free to log in on a more regular basis and upload your own observations.

 Data Protection

The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK's implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Everyone responsible for using personal data has to follow strict rules called 'data protection principles'.

Any publishing of staff and parent observations from Tapestry onto social media is prohibited.

Tapestry support

  • Members of staff are available to support if you are unsure about using the Tapestry app.
  • Parent /carer logins will be provided by the school to ensure each child has an adult linked to their journal. Once logged in a four digit pin will be set to log in.
